The Everest table tells the story so far of a particularly special lady. Commissioned by her husband and daughters as a present for her 70th birthday, it collects together memories of favourite people, places and events in her life and was a full year in the planning and making. Covert correspondence and surreptitious searches for family photographs came close to discovery but we managed to keep the secret surprise right up until the moment of delivery on the big day.
In the centre of the table is a scale model of Mount Everest … her personal passion and already much visited, the tiny model of her sitting by her 'base camp' tent [the work of one of my talented children] is not to scale but given its size, just a few millimetres high, bears a remarkable resemblance to the birthday girl.
