T H E  H E R O N  P A N E L
The heron panel was originally conceived, by me at any rate, as a record and reminder of its commissioner's fishing trip to the Amazon … until he decided that perhaps his wife, not party to the trip, might take exception. So, the Jabiru stork, catfish and shoal of pirahna got their substitutes and the homegrown water scene works every bit as well … and with no family friction.
It's a big piece, about three feet square, quite a stretch to work on, but only a couple of inches thick. However much I do this it never ceases to astonish me just how much depth can be suggested in something no thicker that a hardcover book.
